privacy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from third parties. It is a set of static files. The only script on it is the light/dark toggle in the header, described below.

Who runs it

This is the personal website of Sarah Novotny, Dublin, Ireland. For anything in this notice, use the contact details on the home page.

What the website collects

Nothing that identifies you. There are no cookies, no analytics, no advertising or tracking technologies, no comment forms and no contact forms. Nothing is shared with anyone, because nothing is collected.

Your theme preference

If you use the light/dark toggle, that single choice ("light", "dark" or "auto") is saved in your browser's local storage so the site can remember it next time. It contains no personal data, never leaves your device, and is never sent anywhere. Because it only stores a preference you set yourself, it does not need consent under the ePrivacy rules. If you never touch the toggle, nothing is stored; you can remove it at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser.

Technical delivery

Like any website, this one is delivered by a hosting and content-delivery provider (Amazon Web Services). To serve a page, that infrastructure necessarily processes your IP address and request in transit. Access logging is not enabled, so this data is not retained or used to identify you.

If you get in touch

If you message or email me, I receive your address or handle and whatever you choose to include, and use it only to reply. Correspondence is kept only as long as the conversation needs.

Archived comments

Some older posts show comments that readers left on the previous version of this site, between 2009 and 2016, under the names they chose to publish with. They are reproduced as part of the record of each post. Comments are now closed. If one of them is yours and you would like it removed, get in touch.

Changes

If anything here changes — a contact form, analytics, server logs — this page and its date will be updated first.
